Chairman Andy Pountney has issued the following message to Glassboys fans travelling to Wycombe this Saturday.

Saturday’s match will without doubt be the biggest in the Club’s history, and the eyes of the entire footballing community will be upon us. We will almost certainly be backed by the biggest army of travelling Glassboys fans ever.

As supporters will know, we have recently been charged by the FA following an incident involving a flare during the Cup tie against Northampton Town. Any repeat of this incident will almost certainly have significant implications for the Club, financial or otherwise. Such incidents also involve club officials in time, effort and administration that would be much more productively spent on other matters.

It is an offence to take flares or pyrotechnics into a Football Stadium. It is also an offence to carry such items on trains to and from the match.

We urge all supporters to get behind the team on Saturday in the right way. Your backing is always hugely appreciated by the team and all associated with the club, and has been a significant factor in some of the memorable occasions we have all witnessed in recent seasons. Be loud, be proud, enjoy yourselves, and sing your hearts out for the Glassboys!

However, it only takes one or two individuals to spoil it for everybody else, and to cast a shadow over what should be a day to celebrate, whatever the result.

So we ask you please not to take pyrotechnics into the ground, and not to encroach onto the pitch. We hope there will be plenty to get excited about but please, please do not let that excitement get out of hand.

Please remember also that you are representing Stourbridge FC and the town of Stourbridge not only at the match, but throughout the day whilst travelling to and from the game. Please show proper consideration for other spectators and to other travellers, and ensure that our Club and town are seen in the best possible light.

Thank you.

Andy Pountney (Chairman)
