b]MATCH PREVIEW
[/b]

It's almost a year to the day that the only previous meeting between the two clubs took place.

Stourbridge hosted St Ives Town in the Emirates F A Cup 2nd Qualifying Round and the Sunday afternoon fixture attracted a crowd of 765 to the War Memorial Athletic Ground.

The visitors arrived with an orange kit and after a possible clash of colours was considered Stourbridge took the field wearing white shirts and red shorts.

The visitors had a couple of early chances, but once the Glassboys asserted themselves they went on to control proceedings and were eventually rewarded in the second period with Leon Broadhurst netting a brace of goals to secure a 2 - 0 win for the home side.

St Ives Town are now in their third season at step 3 of the non-league pyramid. They won promotion from the United Counties League at step 5 after finishing as runners-up in 2012-13 and then in their third season in the Southern League Central Division the Cambridgeshire side finished 4th in 2015-16 to secure a play-off berth where they overcame Egham Town away in the semi-finals by winning a penalty shoot-out 4 - 2 after a 2 - 2 draw after extra-time and they followed this up by defeating AFC Rushden & Diamonds 2 - 1 at home in the play-off final to secure another promotion.

Life at step 3 hasn't been easy. St Ives finished 15th in their first season in the Southern League Premier and then after making a reasonable start last season their form and results fell away and they ended up 22nd with only 33 points from 46 games.

Early season results in the newly created Premier Division Central have been rather more encouraging though. St Ives currently sit 8th with ten points from six games and whilst they have only scored five goals, they have only conceded five as well!

St Ives beat Tamworth 1 - 0 at home on the opening day of the season and since then they have drawn 1 - 1 with Needham Market and lost 1 - 0 to Coalville Town at Westwood Road. They defeated Saffron Walden Town 3 - 1 in an F A Cup replay on Tuesday night.

Manager Ricky Marheineke is in his fifth season in charge of the club and for this campaign he has been joined by Craig Adams as his assistant. Adams has previously managed Wellingborough Town and Bedford Town and also been the assistant-manager of Biggleswade Town.

Stourbridge will be missing Greg Mills because of a groin injury and may also be without the services of Luke Benbow too, however Aris Christophorou is expected to return to the squad.
