The Glassboys suffered their first reversal of the pre-season programme as they fell to a 1 - 0 defeat at Midland Alliance side Boldmere St. Michaels. The home side provided good opposition for the Glassboys and they earned their victory thanks to a 42nd minute goal from the lively Simeon Tulloch,while Gary Hackett's men produced some neat football at times, notably in the opening 45 minutes, but on this occasion lacked a finish in sight of goal.

Stourbridge carved out the early chances with Sam Rock playing a precise pass into the run of James Cooper on the left-hand side of the box, but his shot was saved by the home keeper at his near post with nine minutes played and then two minutes later Ryan Rowe took a return pass from Dave Plinston, however he poked his shot wide. Midway through the half a defensive header dropped to Nathan Bennett who lifted his shot over the bar before the Mikes responded with a right-wing cross falling to Kirk Smith on the far side of the area, but he shot straight at Lewis Solly. The Stour custodian was called into action again a few minutes later to deny Tulloch, but the Boldmere attacker made no mistake just before half-time as a good run took him past Bennett before he slotted home past Solly.

Stourbridge had the chance to equalise eight minutes after the re-start when Dave Plinston charged the ball down and that allowed Rowe the opportunity to play an angled ball into the Mikes box which Cooper dummied to let in Ben Billingham who cracked his shot against the bar and Sam Rock screwed the rebound off-target. After that we struggled to break down the home defence who defended stoutly to ensure we could not find an equaliser and just before the end Boldmere almost grabbed a second, but a low drive flew wide.
