The Stourbridge juniors under-9's started their league programme in pool a of the Stourbridge & District Youth league on Sunday with a hard earned 3-1 win away to Halesowen Town Colts. In driving rain the youngsters weathered early pressure before scoring two quick goals via James Thompson with a close range shot and Luke Owen with a brave header. Top goalscorer Zachary Holden secured the win early in the second half with a close range effort and despite conceding a late own goal the youngsters comfortably held on to secure the three points on their debut.

The new STOURBRIDGE FC under 9's team marked their first games in Glassboys colours by winning the prestigious Hawkins Sports 7- a side tournament at Cheslyn Hay last weekend. They were undefeated in 8 games including five group games, before beating hosts Hawkins Sports 5-4 on penalties after a goal-less draw in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals they defeated Tipton Town 1-0 before a thrilling 2-1 win in the final against PSV Stone. All the team contributed on a very long, warm day to bring the silverware back to Amblecote.

Team members were Ryan Pratt, Oliver Roberts, Jack Downing, Zachary Holden, Luke Owen, new signing James Thompson, George Bentley, Jamie Copson and Jack Tye.

Well done to them all -  including manager Jon Sturmey and his assistants Darren Owen and Scott Holden.
