Stourbridge under 12 made the trip to Huntingdon to play in the first round of the cup. The facility was spot on and apart from one heavy downpour the weather was kind to us.
St. Ives set up very defensively and played the game to keep the score down and try and hit Stourbridge on the break. This appeared to be working as at half time the score was only 1-0 thanks to a Callum Winwood goal.
In the second half Stour used the ball quicker and worked the ball into wider areas causing gaps to open up in St. Ives 4-4-0 formation.
Goals coming from Luke Fletcher (2) Ryan Snape (2) Oliver Ford and Kegan Redfern. The last being a superb solo run from twenty yards from his own goal line.
The only blemish was to concede a goal from a rare St. Ives attack which should have been prevented with better communication from keeper and defender.
Overall a tidy 7-1 victory sees us into the next round of the cup.
