Started out as a teenager with Halesowen Town and went on to play for Stourbridge, Bromsgrove, Dudley Town and Cradley Town before earning a move into league football with Swansea City at the start of the 1991-92 season. Jon made 160 appearances for the Swans over a four year period, becoming a well- regarded defender or sweeper, which brought him a move to Bradford City for the 1995-96 campaign. Spells at Gillingham and Barnet later followed before he returned to the Midlands early in 1999 to play for Kidderminster in the Conference. He subsequently played for Telford and Halesowen Town before returning to Bromsgrove Rovers as Player/ Assistant Manager in the summer of 2001, later becoming joint-manager with Gary Hackett in December of that year. Surprisingly axed, along with Gary in May 2003, he re-joined Stourbridge as Player/Joint-Manager a short time later. In May 2005 Jon decided to stand down as joint-manager due to family and work commitments, but he has stayed with the club since and continues to provide assistance to Gary.
