Stourbridge travel to near neighbours Cradley Town tomorrow night, Thursday 23rd July, for the latest warm-up match ahead of the new season.
After wins at West Midlands League Premier Division sides AFC Bridgnorth and Bewdley Town, followed by the narrowest of defeats in Saturday's Worcestershire Senior Cup quarter-final at Redditch, the games continue to come thick and fast for Gary Hackett's squad.
The Hammers finished last season, their fifth since relegation from the Midland Alliance, in 15th place after a tough season on the pitch. This was their lowest finish since returning to the WML, having been solidly mid-table in previous seasons.
Stourbridge and Cradley met regularly between 2000 and 2006, when the Glassboys were themselves in the Alliance, and, although Cradley were perennial strugglers throughout that time (only once finishing higher than 19th in that five-year period), games between the two sides were always hard-fought.
We look forward to renewing our friendship with Cradley and we thank them for agreeing to the fixture at short notice.
