The draw for the First Qualifying Round of the Emirates FA Cup has seen Stourbridge drawn away to Loughborough Dynamo.

Dynamo currently play in the Evo-Stik North, one Division below Stourbridge, alongside such local teams to us as Alvechurch, Chasetown and Romulus.

Like the Glassboys, they are unbeaten so far this season, having taken four points from a 3-2 opening day win at home to Bedworth United and a 2-2 draw at Sheffield FC. Saturday saw them come through a testing Preliminary Round tie away to Oadby Town as 3-1 winners.

The teams have previously met in 2004/05 and 2005/06 when both were members of the Midland Alliance. Loughborough gained promotion from the Alliance as runners-up in 2007/08 and have played in the Evo-Stik League Division 1 South since then. Their highest finish was 8th in 2012, whilst the last two seasons have seen them finish 20th of 22 clubs both times, narrowly avoiding relegation.

The teams have never met in the FA Cup. Indeed Loughborough's recent record is unenviable, having lost at the first time of asking for the past four seasons before breaking that hoodoo last weekend.

Last season they lost 1-3 at home to Ashby Ivanhoe in the Preliminary Round.

Since first entering the FA Cup in 2005 their best performances have been in reaching the Second Qualifying Round twice. They lost 0-2 at home to Redditch United in 201/11, and then by the same scoreline at Solihull Moors twelve months later. A win against the Glassboys would therefore see them equal their "personal best" in the competition.

The First Qualifying Round is scheduled to take place over the weekend of Saturday 2nd September.

The Glassboys will be hoping to extend their remarkable recent record in the competition and, who knows, maybe emulate or surpass last season's memorable run to the Third Round, which included that magnificent win against Northampton Town thanks to Jack Duggan's late goal (pictured above).
