MATCH PREVIEW

The F A Cup has provided Stourbridge fans with many memorable moments since 2009 when the Glassboys finally reached the promised land of the First Round Proper for the first time, but Gary Hackett's men face a test of their current credentials this Saturday as National League North club LEAMINGTON head to the War Memorial Athletic Ground.

The two sides locked horns on a regular basis between 2005 and 2013 as both clubs regularly jostled for promotion and both were ultimately successful in making the two-step climb from the Midland Football Alliance to the Southern League Premier Division during this time-frame before the Brakes then went a stage further by securing a first promotion to step 2 and the Conference North for the 2013/14 season.

The Glassboys squad has several players who have previously featured at some stage for the Brakes including Paul McCone, Stuart Pierpoint, Leon Broadhurst, Robert Thompson-Brown, Callum Powell and most recently, Chekaine Steele.

The last meeting between the two teams came nine months ago in the Buildbase F A Trophy 1st Round proper when the Glassboys ran out 1 - 0 victors at Leamington thanks to
a close range header from Matt Dodd before he ironically then returned to the Brakes to help them win their fight against relegation.

Leamington came out on top the last time the two sides met in the F A Cup which was in the 2012/13 season. Leamington won a 1st Qualifying round replay 2 - 1 at the War Memorial Athletic Ground after a 2 - 2 draw in the first contest at the Windmill Ground.

Since then the Glassboys have always reached the 3rd Qualifying Round in this competition at the very least and will be looking to keep that record going on Saturday!

Home supporters will be hoping that striker Luke Benbow is fit to take his place in the starting line-up after seeing their side play out two goal-less draws this week.

After surviving the threat of relegation on the last day of the season in 2017/18, Leamington will be encouraged to currently be sat 8th in the National League North with 15 points gathered from 10 games (won 4, drew 3 and lost 3). The Brakes got back to winning ways last Saturday with a 2 - 0 victory at Blyth Spartans after falling to defeat in their two previous games away at Stockport and at home to Spennymoor.

Summer signing MATT STENSON has impressed up-front for the Brakes since arriving from Barwell and other recent arrivals include attacker ANTHONY DWYER who played in the Birmingham Senior Cup Final for Hednesford against the Glassboys in May, former Tamworth midfielder CONNOR TAYLOR and ex-Ilkeston and Nuneaton defender JACK LANE who was snapped up earlier this month from Alfreton Town.

If a replay is required, it will be at Leamington on Tuesday night (25th September) - kick-off 7-45 pm
