Glassboys striker Karl Hawley has left the club to take up the post of First Team Coach at Mansfield Town FC.

Karl joined Stourbridge just prior to the start of last season, completing a move from Vanarama National League Alfreton Town, and finished the 2016/17 season as the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division's top scorer, notching 27 League goals, and 31 goals in all competitions, including the winner from the penalty spot at Dover Athletic in the FA Cup.

Karl was voted Premier Division Player of the Season by the Division's managers, and by the members of the NPL Fnas' Facebook Group, as well as being nominated in the Divisional Team of the Season.

Karl is well-known in the East Midlands, having spent three seasons with Notts County, during which he helped them, to the League Two Title in 2012, along with his spell with Alfreton.

He also spent some time coaching at the Field Mill club towards the end of last season.

Commenting on Mansfield's website, manager Adam Murray said, ""Karl is someone I have known for many years. He brings to the club a wealth of experience in the League, which we feel will be vitally important to move forward. Karl has a great background in achieving success and promotions and we feel that he will add a winning mentality to that which we already have in this group."

We would like to wish Karl success at Mansfield, and we thank him for his efforts last season.
