Our best wishes go to striker LUKE BENBOW who has now completed a transfer move to NUNEATON BOROUGH. (READ ON)

The Warwickshire outfit, who will be in the Premier Division Central this season following their relegation from the National League North, have agreed an undisclosed four-figure fee to secure the services of the 27-year old marksman.

A strong and deceptive striker, who does a lot of his best work on or around the edge of the box, Luke boasts a terrific scoring record at this level and he offers a genuine threat on goal from free-kicks awarded 20-30 yards from goal as several goalkeepers will testify.

Luke joined the Football Education programme at Birmingham City at the age of 16. He later had spells with Bromsgrove Rovers and Weymouth before being selected to join Glenn Hoddle’s Football Academy in Spain. He later returned to the UK and joined Solihull Moors who initially loaned him out to Highgate United before he linked up with Redditch United for the latter part of the 2011-12 campaign.

Luke first signed for the Glassboys in the summer of 2012 and he spent three years with the club initially, managing 23 goals in his first season and 25, the following campaign before he suffered an injury disrupted 2014-15 season. He initially signed for Hednesford in July 2015 but ended up moving on again to Rushall before the start of 2015-16. Luke notched 20 times in the league as he appeared to get back to his best.

After a season with Rushall, he re-joined us for a second spell in July 2016 and a tremendous 2016-17 campaign saw him notch 39 goals in all competitions as he won the Golden Boot award for the Evo-stik Premier Division. He was on the score-sheet in the 3 - 0 victory over Whitehawk in the F A Cup 1st Round Replay as Stourbridge eventually made it through to the 3rd Round Proper.

He moved on to Solihull Moors in the summer of 2017, but injury sadly hampered his progress there. He returned to Stourbridge on loan in November 2017 and later re-joined on a permanent basis. His brace of goals - including a last minute winner - memorably helped the Glassboys lift the Birmingham Senior Cup in May 2018 following a 2 - 1 victory over Hednesford.

Last season saw Luke hit 24 goals in 39 appearances (34 + 5 sub), including a hat-trick against Leiston at the start of March, but unfortunately he then missed most of the last two months of the season through injury, although he did return to start the play-off semi-final defeat at Alvechurch in May.

Overall Luke has 255 Stourbridge appearances to his name (229 + 26 sub) from his three spells and 136 goals in total.

Luke leaves us with special memories of a host of fine finishes and stunning free-kicks and we sincerely wish him well for the future!
