We are delighted to announce the signing of central defender Dan Preston on a month’s loan from AFC Telford United.

25-year old Dan, who is also a step-brother of Lewis McPike, has previous experience with the Glassboys having spent a month on loan from Telford with us in late 2013, during our final season in the Southern League. He started two matches during that period, the 7-0 home win against Weymouth (pictured above) and the 0-2 defeat at Burnham, but was Cup-tied when we visited Stevenage in the FA Cup having played for Barrow in a previous round. After making one further substitute appearance, injury then curtailed his time with us.

Dan began his career in Birmingham City’s academy and was part of the Blues squad that reached the FA Youth Cup semi-finals in 2008/09, before two spells on loan at Hereford United in 2010 and 2011.

A permanent transfer to Telford followed in the summer of 2011, where he was a regular member of the side over the next two seasons. However, after losing his place early in the 2013/14 season he spent a month on loan at Barrow, and then a further month with the Glassboys, before returning to Telford and collecting a Championship medal at the end of that season as the Bucks won the National League North Title twelve months after relegation from the top flight.

Dan joined Tamworth in the summer of 2014 and spent two seasons with the Lambs, where he established himself in the National League North before returning to Telford last summer. However, his chances have been limited and after loan stints with Sutton Coldfield Town and Leamington already, he has recently spent a month on loan with our Evo-Stik League counterparts Hednesford Town.

Welcome back to Stourbridge, Dan!
