Tuesday, 13th November - kick-off 7-45 pm
REDDITCH UNITED v STOURBRIDGE FC
Evo-stik League South Premier Division Central

Ground address: The Trico Stadium ( a k a Valley Stadium), Bromsgrove Road, Redditch, Worcs. B97 4RN

Admission prices: Adults £10, concessions £6 and children under 16 years of age £2.

Redditch’s ground is a 5 minute walk or so from the Railway Station, which is on the Cross City Line, and there are trains back to Birmingham New Street at 9.57 pm and 10.27 pm.

On arriving at the station BEFORE the game, turn right outside at the station entrance and head up Bromsgrove Road towards the brow of the hill where the driveway down to the ground is situated on the right-hand side.

Redditch have installed a 3G pitch since our last visit there in July 2015 for a Worcestershire Senior Cup 1st Round tie which the home side won 2 - 1 with Jamie Insall scoring the Stourbridge goal that afternoon.

The Glassboys will wear yellow and blue at Redditch.

DIRECTIONS BY CAR

If travelling by car, to travel the 17 miles to Redditch will take you around 35-40 minutes from Stourbridge. Take the A491 down to Junction 4 of the M5 before taking the A38 signposted for Bromsgrove. Head past Bromsgrove and continue to the big island where the A38 meets the A448. Turn left onto the A448 Bromsgrove Highway dual carriageway for about three-and-a-half miles towards Redditch. Leave it at the first slip-road (signposted for Tardebigge, Batchley and Enfield etc.) and then at the roundabout, turn right (3rd exit) and go over the dual carriageway and follow the road round before turning first right into Birchfield Road. Head past the Gulf Petrol station and the Brewers Fayre Foxlydiate pub. Take the next turning on the left (Bromsgrove Road) in less than half-a-mile and follow this road for just over a mile. Go over the brow of a hill and turn left into the driveway at the side of the Hill View surgery down towards the ground entrance.

MATCH PREVIEW

Stourbridge have the opportunity to draw level on points with Kettering Town at the top of the table if they can claim a victory on Tuesday evening, albeit with having played more games than the Poppies.

Redditch, though, will come into the match in good heart. Their 2 - 0 win at Bedworth United on Saturday was their 4th victory in the league in a row, although they did suffer a 1 - 0 loss at Mickleover Sports in the FA Trophy 1st Qualifying Round in the midst of this winning sequence in the Premier Division Central. The Reds have climbed out of the relegation zone to 17th in the standings and now have their sights set on overhauling a clutch of clubs just above them who are just a point or two better off than them.

Stourbridge boss Gary Hackett will be hoping to welcome back midfielders Aaron Forde and Brad Birch for this match and youth team keeper Peter Hawk is also included in the travelling party as Niall Maher is suspended following his sending off against Cinderford last Monday.

Following a dismal start to the current campaign, which included an early FA Cup exit, Redditch parted company with Paul Davis who had only been appointed in the summer and they handed the managerial reigns in mid-September to former Bromsgrove Sporting boss and ex-Highgate United joint-manager Paul Smith. He has since overhauled the squad with several new signings, including some players who had worked under him at his previous clubs.

Midfielder Robbie Bunn has returned to Redditch United after most recently featuring for both Bromsgrove Sporting and Highgate United and it was he that scored the free-kick against the Glassboys in the FA Cup match at Highgate back in September, while Ahmed Ali is another former Sporting player who has linked up again with Smith after a spell with Halesowen Town. Goalkeeper Reece Francis has recently arrived from Bromsgrove Sporting too, while ex-Glassboy Sam Tye followed Smith from Highgate to Redditch in September.

The Reds boss has also recruited the likes of defenders Andy Parsons and Rob Evans from Alvechurch and Coleshill respectively, while pacey winger Michael Nelson, who played against Stourbridge for AFC Wulfrunians in the Glassboys first pre-season match in July, has been snapped up after a short stint with Hednesford Town.

One to keep an eye on is former Tividale, Market Drayton, Corby Town and Black Country Rangers striker Shaquille Leachman-Whittingham, who it is reported has now signed contract terms with the Reds after some fine performances since Smith took the helm.

We hope as many of you as possible will make the short journey to Redditch United on Tuesday evening to give plenty of vocal backing to the side.
