The Glassboys are into the Birmingham Senior Cup quarter-finals after beating WOLVES at Amblecote thanks to a last-minute penalty save by Matt Gould.

Stour will now travel to Midland League Premier outfit Coleshill Town after first-half goals from Aaron Forde and Jack Duggan were enough to see off the visiting Championship side’s youngsters.

Gary Hackett’s men looked to utilise their extra physical strength in the early stages from set pieces and long throws and they took the lead in the 16th minute.

Wolves keeper Jon Flatt could only half clear with a punch a quickly taken long throw-in from Tonks on the right and when the ball fell to Forde on the edge of the box, the midfielder volleyed home superbly.

It took just two minutes for Stour to double their lead. A left-wing corner from Tonks came in and centre-back Duggan rose highest to direct a downwards header home.

Paul McCone was replaced by Stuart Pierpoint 23 minutes in after a clash of heads and Wolves halved the deficit just before half-time.

Seemingly out of nowhere, an Adam Osbourne left-wing cross was headed home by forward Jose Xavier.

Forde, who was hobbling towards the end of the first period, was replaced by young midfielder Jake Evans at the break.

Ryan Rainey went close with a free-kick for the visitors in the second half before Stour defender Louis Hall - making his debut - did brilliantly to get across and block a certain goal.

Brandon Hague was introduced as Hackett’s final substitute, replacing captain for the night Tom Tonks who looked to have taken a knock.

Gould had to be alert to claim a Rainey header and then did well to block a Jordan Allan effort as Wolves searched for an equaliser.

Wolves sub Austin Samuels fired over the bar in the 90th minute but there was more drama to come in stoppage time.

Visiting keeper Flatt came up for a late free-kick and was fouled by Cooke in a goalmouth scramble.

Allan stepped up but Gould guessed the right way and pushed the ball to safety as Stour avoided yet more stoppage time disappointment.

The Glassboys will now travel to Coleshill Town in the quarter-finals. A date will be announced when agreed by both clubs.

Stourbridge: Gould, Green, Hall, McCone (Pierpoint 23), Duggan, Forde (Evans 46), Tonks (Hague 62), Cooke, Perry, Gater, Shearer. Subs not used: Cameron, Gomes.

Attendance: 523
