MATCH PREVIEW

After a three-week gap Stourbridge are back in league action at the War Memorial Athletic Ground on Saturday having leap-frogged over Kettering Town to top the Premier Division Central standings on Tuesday night with the goal-less draw at Banbury.

The Glassboys will hope to keep the Northamptonshire side behind them for as long as possible - at the very least until the Northamptonshire outfit catch up with their league fixtures in January.

Stourbridge are averaging over two points per game having amassed 42 points from their league fixtures so far, but Saturday sees them face one of the only two sides to have beaten them in the league this season to date.

Back in August Coalville Town defeated Stourbridge 6 - 4 in a remarkable game that swung one way and then the other. There were ten different goalscorers and defences were most certainly not on top!

The Ravens currently sit 9th in the table having played five games fewer than Stourbridge. They have 25 points from their 15 games played (won 7, drew 4 and lost 4).

After an opening day defeat to Leiston, they enjoyed a good run of results that saw them climb to 2nd by late August, but some disappointing league results in October led Coalville to drop down the table and around the same time they bowed out of both the FA Cup and FA Trophy competitions at home in replays to fellow Premier Division Central clubs St Neots Town and Barwell respectively, although the former was following a penalty shoot-out.

Recent signs have been more encouraging for boss Adam Stevens with an away win at Tamworth at the start of the month almost backed up last week at home to King's Lynn Town. Despite losing recent signing Kyle Perry to a red card after 32 minutes they held the lead over the Linnets until the 87th minute when Adam Marriott rescued a point for the visitors with the equaliser in a 3 - 3 draw.

The Leicestershire side have been boosted by the return after injury of summer signing Luke Shaw. The former Grantham midfielder made his first appearance of the current campaign on Tuesday night in their Senior Cup win over Barwell. The Ravens have also drafted in goalkeeper Richard Walton in from Matlock Town in the past week or so. They will be looking to get back amongst the play-off places quickly and capitalise on their games in hand over many of the sides around them.

For the home team, Jordaan Brown is available for selection again and could return against Coalville. He is added to the 16-man squad involved at Leiston and Banbury in the last seven days.
