MATCH PREVIEW

Stourbridge and Kettering Town meet for the third time this season after two previous clashes at Latimer Park. Two entertaining contests both went the way of the Northamptonshire outfit, although there was little to choose between the two sides in each game.

Kettering knocked the Glassboys out of the Buildbase FA Trophy at the 1st Qualifying Round stage at the end of October with a 2 - 0 win and then three-and-a-half weeks later they defeated Stourbridge 4 - 2 in the first league meeting between the clubs this season. The Stour faithful will be hoping it's a case of third time lucky now they are back on home soil where the Glassboys are unbeaten in the league this season!

Gary Hackett's men top the table by one point from Kettering, but the visitors have two games in hand. They were due to have hosted Coalville Town on Tuesday night, when they could have leap-frogged over the Glassboys, but the game suffered a late postponement due to a fall of snow, so Stourbridge stayed in pole position going into Saturday.

Stourbridge have received a timely boost with the news that both goalkeeper James Wren and winger Callum Powell are back in contention for this game after overcoming recent injury problems.

The Glassboys saw their 12-match unbeaten run in the league come to an end at Hitchin Town last Saturday, so the home side will be looking to bounce back quickly from that set-back.

After suffering a bitterly disappointing 3 - 2 loss at home to fellow promotion chasers Biggleswade Town in one of the games they had in hand over Stourbridge with Rhys Hoenes also sent-off near the end after collecting two yellow cards during the evening, Marcus Law will have been pleased to see his side grind out a battling 1 - 0 win over Royston Town last Saturday, with the added bonus of a welcome clean sheet.

Kettering are a strong attacking force with plenty of firepower, quality and experience in forward areas with the likes of Aaron O'Connor, Adam Cunnington and Dan Holman all having played at higher levels, but their achilles heel in recent months has been at the back and this is an area where they have looked to strengthen with the capture of Craig Stanley.

Hopefully the quality of football on show will be on a par with the two previous matches this season.
