The Club can confirm that Jordan Archer has left the Glassboys to sign for National League side Chester.

The Cheshire outfit put a seven-day approach in for the 24-year-old last week and he subsequently agreed to move north.

Chester, managed by former Solihull Moors boss Marcus Bignot, are currently 22nd in the National League table and have signed Archer to a contract until 2019.

Archer joined the Glassboys in November 2016 from Bedworth United after spells with Chasetown, Cradley Town, Tipton Town, Tividale, Redditch United and Boldmere St Michaels.

He became an integral part of Gary Hackett’s side, posing a constant threat from wide areas as well as when he was played in a more central position.

Archer scored the winner in the thrilling play-off semi-final victory over Workington in April, ending the season with 13 goals from 34 appearances.

Following top scorer Luke Benbow’s move to Solihull, Archer stepped up and led the line well for Stour.

He scored five times in our opening four Evo-Stik Premier fixtures - leading to a trial with League One side Walsall - and netted nine times in 17 games this season.

His last game for the Glassboys was Saturday’s disappointing defeat to Grantham Town in the Evo-Stik Premier and he departs the War Memorial Ground having scored 22 times in 51 appearances.

Joint assistant manager Jon Ford said: "Jordan has been fantastic for us and he's a great guy.

"We wish him all the best and he deserves his move. He's gone a couple of levels higher and with full-time coaching, Jordan will do well."

Archer becomes the latest player to move up the divisions after starring in Gary Hackett’s side. Dan Scarr was snapped up by Birmingham City and Kristian Green went to Solihull last season while Benbow and Chris Lait also moved to the Moors in the summer.

The club would like to thank Jordan for his efforts while in the red and white of Stourbridge and wish him well in his new chapter at Chester.
