The Glassboys progressed in the Integro League Cup thanks to four excellent spot-kicks and some heroics from debutant keeper Ash Malhotra.

Malhotra saved twice in the shoot-out, whilst Stuart Pierpoint, Drew Canavan, Jake Heath and Brandon Hague all netted for Stour to secure victory.

In an exciting and open contest, which saw some great strikes and several near misses, Jordan Archer and Canavan had swept the Glassboys into a two goal lead inside 20 minutes. But the home side hit back through Cameron Gayle and Jake Healey to level it up before ex-Glassboy Sean Geddes, on debut for the Royals, was dismissed after a tangle with Archer.

The influential O'Callaghan then put Sutton ahead just before the break only for Pierpoint to equalise on 50 minutes, and with no further addition to the score it was Stourbridge who took their chance from 12 yards.

We now travel to Barwell on a date to be confirmed in the Second Round.

Team: Malhotra, Smikle, Probert, Gater, Wedderburn, Pierpoint, Heath, Birch, Hague, Archer, Canavan

Subs: Westlake (for Archer 63 mins), Green (for Wedderburn 85 mins), Tonks, Broadhurst, Scarr (not used)
