Midfielder Tom Tonks has become the latest former Glassboy to sign for Vanarama National League Solihull Moors.

Moors announced the signing last week, and Tonks joins Chris Lait and Luke Benbow in moving to the Damson Parkway club since the end of last season, where the trio join another ex-Glassboy Kristian Green, who made the move in January this year.

Tom joined Stourbridge from Halesowen Town in the summer of 2015, and moved on to AFC Telford United in National Leage North in December of the same year, returning to Amblecote towards the end of the 2015/16 season for a second spell.

In total, Tom made 96 appearances for Stourbridge (including 12 as a substitute), scoring seven goals, the most notable being his long-range strike at Peterborough Sports in last season's FA Cup First Qualifying Round, a goal which featured on the BBC website among others, and became a social media hit.

Tom featured in both of our FA Cup runs to the Second and Third Rounds in the last two seasons, and was the proverbial "coat of paint" away from giving the Glassboys an unthinkable 2-1 lead late in the game at Wycombe Wanderers last season, when his cross/shot came back off the crossbar.

We wish Tom all the best at Solihull, and we thank him for his efforts for Stourbridge!

In other news, long-serving midfielder Drew Canavan has re-signed ahead of the new season. Drew notched up his 400th appearance for Stourbridge during 2016/17, and this will be his 10th season at Stourbridge.

Lewis McPike has also signed Evo-Stik League forms and will be dual registered with Sporting Khalsa in the Midland League.

Meanwhile, Justin Richards will join pre-season training as he looks to return to playing after suffering injury to both knees during our FA Cup tie at Nantwich Town in October last year.

Left-sided defender Kieren Westwood, who joined us from Stratford Town towards the end of last season, has left the club.
