A Jake Brigdale hat trick saw the Youth team through to the next round of the F A Youth Cup.

In a much improved performance, a Jake Brigdale hat-trick saw the Youth team home in the FAYC preliminary round with a 3-1 victory over Redditch Utd.

The boys played some good football, although it could be said that at times it was a little lethargic.

Redditch were restricted to very few shots at goal by a resolute defence, well marshalled by Freddie Watts and Tom Hunt in the centre.

Bridgale opened the scoring three minutes before the interval with a raking shot from distance that flew past the keeper, but the visitors were level within five minutes of the re-start. The home side were soon back in-front.A well-worked move led to the award of a penalty following a foul by the keeper on Tom Edmonds-Hill and Brigdale fired home from the spot.

Stourbridge had the better of the play after that with Brigdale forcing the keeper iinto a parried save and Jack Pitchford striking a rising angled shot into the side-netting The result was in doubt, though, until the third minute of injury time when Brigdale reached a through ball ahead the Redditch keeper and nipped the ball past him on the edge of the box before tapped in to an empty net to complete the scoring.

Stour take on a home tie against Newcastle Town or Bilston Town in the next round on Tuesday 20th September, kick off 7.30pm.
