After a successful period as interim manager during the 23/24 season before enjoying a spell as first team coach at Bromsgrove Sporting, Darryl now takes the first team reins on a full time basis alongside his role as academy manager which has seen the side go from strength to strength.
Darryl’s assistant manager will be Tyrone Barnett who is no stranger to The Glassboys having enjoyed a successful time with us at the end of the season which saw him find some fine goalscoring form. His vast experience in the football league will prove vital both on and off the pitch as he moves into a coaching role alongside his playing commitments.
The duo will also be joined by goalkeeper coach Chris ‘Billy’ Walwyn who is no stranger to the club either, having previously worked with us under Ian long after and brings with his further experience having worked for a number of local clubs such as Alvechurch.
After being appointed as manager, Darryl said ‘Stourbridge is my club and I’ve been lucky enough to be part of it for a number of years meaning I know it inside out. For me, its a privilege to be given the opportunity to manage this fantastic club.
I want to be the man to bring the good times back and put smiles back on the fans' faces along with my management team who all share the same passion and ambition as me for the club. I’m excited and can’t wait to get started.’
Speaking on his new role, Tyrone Barnett shared his thoughts with us too, ‘I want to thank you for trusting me with the role of Player/Assistant Manager. I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited to contribute to the team in every way by using my extensive knowledge and experience in the game. I hope to bring the club success and I’m looking forward to seeing us grow together.’
We wish Darryl, Ty and Billy the very best of luck in their new roles and look forward to bringing you further updates in the coming days.
