The Glassgirls finished as runners-up by a single point behind champions Tamworth in the Birmingham County Women’s League Premier Division, but with promotion to the WMRL not automatic, the team have faced an anxious wait to find out whether they had been accepted into the higher level.
It is not yet known whether they will be placed in Division 1 North or South.
However, the good news is tinged with some sadness as manager Keith Grainger has made the decision to step down after three successful years at the helm.
Keith has overseen three promotions during that period and also led the team into their first appearance in the SSE Women’s FA Cup last season, where they beat Leek CSOB 6-1 before bowing out at the hands of a strong Burton Albion Ladies team, whilst the team also rounded off the season, and Keith’s reign, in fitting style by carrying off silverware in the shape of the BCWL Open Cup after a 3-1 extra-time win over Starlands St Annes.
On behalf of all at Stourbridge FC we would like to congratulate Keith on his and the team’s achievements over the past three seasons, and we would also like to express our thanks for his efforts.
