ICYMI: Leon has brought in a trio of new signings this week!

Bek Howell23 Dec 2023 - 10:39

Manager Leon Broadhurst has been hard at work this week to secure three new players - who could all play this afternoon!

We have secured the services of Ethan Freemantle, Matt Richards and Connor Stanley ahead of a busy festive period followed by an exciting January!

Ethan Freemantle joins us on loan from Kidderminster Harriers on loan until the end of the season, having recently spent time with Hereford United and Gloucester City in the National League North. He is a powerful striker known for his quality in the final third, his work rate and his desire to fight for everything whilst on the pitch.

He has made over 100 appearances for Kidderminster Harriers at step 2 and also appeared in their FA Cup victory against Reading FC on their run to the fourth round proper last season.

Matt Richards joins us on a short term loan from West Bromwich Albion until January 16th. The 19-year-old is highly rated at the Hawthorns where he penned a pro deal before the end of his scholarship with the club before picking up Academy Player of the Year in the 2021/22 season.

Richards is primarily a defensive midfielder who’s known for his ability to break up play and set up attacking moves for his side but he has also found success playing in a back three for West Brom’s PL2 side when they won the Premier League Cup at the end of the season. He has graced the Amblecote turf on one previous occasion when we played the young Albion side in the Birmingham Senior Cup last season as we advanced into the final.

Leon’s final addition to the side is 21-year-old Connor Stanley who is a quick, skilful winger who joins us from Hereford United following the end of the short term deal he signed with the National league North side in the summer.

He came through the ranks at Birmingham City before moving north to Manchester United. Whilst with the red devils, he spent time on loan at Atlanta United before returning to the UK and signing for Bolton Wanderers. After loan spells with Bamber Bridge and United of Manchester, he opted to return closer to home to link up with Hereford United this summer.

Speaking on his new additions, Leon said how pleased he was to get them all onboard with a busy few weeks ahead. ‘All three players add new dimensions to the squad as well as competition for places. They are all top quality signings which we had to work hard to get across the line but I am very pleased to have them at the club!’

Welcome to the club Ethan, Matt and Connor!
