Joel Kettle moves on - A message from our outgoing skipper

Joel Kettle moves on - A message from our outgoing skipper

Nigel Gregg29 Aug - 18:10

JOEL KETTLE has taken the decision to leave us due to changing work commitments and has sent the following message of gratitude to the club.

STOURBRIDGE, thank you!

I want to express my gratitude for all your support during my time with the club. It’s been an honour to play and captain the team. However, due to family and work commitments, I’ve had to make the difficult decision to step away, but I’ll always carry fond memories of my time here. Up the Stour!

A new management role at work, requiring me to travel the country, combined with being home to spend as much time with my daughter has made it difficult to commit 110% to Stourbridge and be a leader for Knightsy. Ultimately, that's not what i'm about, and I won't let my standards slip and cut corners. The gaffa and the lads don't deserve that.

Thank you to the fans, staff, committee, and players at Stour over these 3 and a bit seasons. I’ll continue cheering for the Glassboys from afar and wish the club every success moving forward. Believe me, knightsy is your man!

It's time for a little break, and then I'll find a new challenge closer to home.

Much love, Ketts!

Joel linked up with the Glassboys for a second spell in the summer of 2022 after agreeing a move from Bromsgrove Sporting. He had previously had a brief stint at Stourbridge towards the end of the 2013-14 season, making one substitute appearance. The rugged 6ft 3 ins. tall central defender won both our supporters’ player of the year and the directors/committee player of the year awards last season after an excellent 2024-25 season at the heart of our defence and was appointed as our new captain in the summer by new boss Darryl Knights.

In total he made 147 appearances (145 + 2 sub) and scored seven times over the course of his two stints.

We are sincerely sorry to see Joel go. but understand his reasons and wish him all the best for the future!
