Landell returns to the Glassboys!

Bek Howell8 Aug 2024 - 10:45

Andre Landell was previously with us for two seasons between 2019 and 2021 under Ian Long and Mark Yates.

‘Dre’ is a highly thought of striker who came through the ranks at Wolverhampton Wanders before being released in 2011. He started the 2011-12 season with Bath City before moving closer to home with Hednesford Town in the December of that year.

In 2013, he moved to the United States where he represented Tiffin University before making the switch to Michigan Bucks who were playing their trade in the North American Premier Development League.

When he returned to England in September 2017, he returned to Dales Lane for the remainder of the season before making the switch to league rivals Alvechurch FC. He was part of Ian Long’s 2018-19 side who beat us in the play off’s that season, with Dre scoring as he came on during the second half.

He joined Ian Long at Amblecote for the start of the 2019/20 season and scored a number of important goals, the most memorable of which was his overhead kick at Biggleswade Town which picked up our goal of the season award after the season was curtailed due to COVID 19.

Dre opted to stay at the War Memorial Athletic Ground when football resumed under new Glassboys boss Mark Yates however he made the switch to near neighbours Bromsgrove Sporting in the December of 2020.

He completed the season with Sporting before returning to Hednesford Town where he spent a season before linking up with Liam McDonald at Rushall Olympic where was part of the squad who gained the Pics promotion to the National League North.

After spending most of last season with the Pics at step 2, he moved to Stratford Town in search of more regular football as the Bards’ pushed for promotion but ultimately fell short on the final day.

Upon returning to the club, Dre said “It’s great to be back at Stourbridge and see so many familiar faces. There’s good people throughout the club and I’m excited for the start of the season and hopefully we can get off to a good start!”
