Experienced 33-year old left-footed midfielder MIKE McGRATH has joined the club from Redditch United.

The much travelled Northfield-based midfield man can also slot into the back four, if required.

He began his career as a youth team player with Kidderminster Harriers, before joining Redditch United in 2005. He then returned to Aggborough towards the end of the 2005/06 season and subsequently signed a one-year deal that summer.

He soon made a good impression, attracting some interest from League clubs as a result and in 2007 he agreed a two-year contract extension with the Harriers.

However a mix of injuries and loss of form saw him fall out of favour at Kidderminster over the following year or so.

He spent much of the early part of the 2008/09 campaign on loan at Worcester City before his contract was cancelled by mutual consent in January 2009.

He headed across the Irish Sea in February of that year to join Republic of Ireland side Galway United. He made twenty appearances for the Tribesmen before joining league rivals Sligo Rovers in July 2007, where he made a further four appearances.

December 2009 saw McGrath return to England where he linked up again with Redditch, where he stayed for the remainder of the 2009/10 season before three months into the 2010/11 season he left the Valley Stadium and joined Halesowen Town, where he made 21 appearances before signing for Evesham United in March 2011. He then returned to Halesowen for a second spell in September 2011 and chalked up a further 25 appearances for the Yeltz before spending time on trial at AFC Telford in the summer of 2012.

After returning from taking a break from the game, the 2014/15 campaign saw him feature for both Stourport Swifts and Alvechurch before he made the step back up into the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division in the summer of 2015 by joining Rushall Olympic. After four months at Rushall, McGrath stepped down a level to join Stratford Town, before a summer move to Hednesford in 2016.

He had short stints with the Pitmen and then Alvechurch at the start of the 2016/17 campaign before signing for Hereford FC in September 2016. He spent around two-and-a-quarter years there and tasted success with the Bulls, winning back-to-back titles as Hereford were the Southern League Division 1 South West and Premier Division champions in successive seasons.

In December 2018 he moved to Bromsgrove Sporting but was lured back to Redditch once more at the end of January 2019.

Welcome to the club, Mike!

ARIS MOVES TO NUNEATON

Our best wishes are extended to full-back ARIS CHRISTOPHOROU who has become the third player to depart the War Memorial Athletic Ground for NUNEATON BOROUGH this summer.

Aris clocked up 86 appearances for the Glassboys (72 + 14 sub) after joining us in the summer of 2017 from Rushall Olympic.
