The Glassboys round off their pre-season friendly schedule with a fascinating encounter at NANTWICH TOWN on Saturday afternoon (3 pm).

Having never faced the Dabbers prior to the start of the 2014/15 campaign we then met them eleven times in the next four seasons in either league or cup action during our time in the NPL Premier Division and enjoyed some thrilling contests with the Cheshire outfit.

Nantwich finished 4th last season and they were then beaten 4 – 1 away at Warrington Town in their Divisional semi-final. They are noted for being a very capable footballing side and it should be the perfect test for us ahead of the new Premier Division Central season getting underway on Saturday, 10th August at Hitchin Town.

Influential figures for the Cheshire side include midfield playmaker Sean Cooke, who is nearing 250 appearances for the Dabbers and highly-regarded young striker Joe Malkin, the son of former Tranmere Rovers forward Chris Malkin, who made a big impression last season after making the step up the leagues from NWCFL Division 1 side Cammell Laird. The tall leader of the line agreed contract terms as he committed his future to Dave Cooke's side.

Nantwich have also just welcomed back central defender Ben Harrison after two seasons with Altrincham. He is admired for his driving runs out of defence and his excellent reading of the game.

The Glassboys have injury concerns over Jake Evans and Tom Tonks with both having picked up knocks in earlier warm-up games, while Brad Birch will miss the early weeks of the season as he requires an operation on his knee.

The ground address is Weaver Stadium, Waterlode, Nantwich CW5 5BS

A Club Coach is running to the Nantwich match, departing from the War Memorial Athletic Ground at 11.15 am. To check if there are still spare places on board for supporters, please check with Jim McComish on 07966 568767 this evening.

Admission prices are £8 for adults, £5 for concessions (disabled & over 65's) and £2 for under 16's (or one free U16 per 1 paying adult entry).
