NEW SIGNING - Striker JORDAN ARCHER returns for a second spell!

Nigel Gregg11 Aug - 12:20

The 31-year-old strong, powerful forward has joined the Glassboys for a second spell after a year out of the game.

Jordan started out in the Chasetown youth set-up. He subsequently gained senior experience with spells at Cradley Town, Tipton and Tividale before moving to Redditch United in the summer of 2015. He didn't settle at the Valley Stadium though and in late September 2015 he moved on to Bedworth United.

He really found his feet with the Greenbacks and a productive second half to the campaign saw him end up being amongst the leading scorers in the Southern League Premier Division with 19 league goals, despite Bedworth being relegated.

Gary Hackett lured Jordan to Stourbridge in November 2016 and he helped the Glassboys to make the play-off final before we suffered defeat at Spennymoor Town. Having notched 13 times in 34 appearances for us in his first season, a further 9 goals in 17 games at the start of the 2017-18 campaign saw him earn a move to Chester FC in October 2017.

His impressive form continued and in July 2018 he was transferred to then League 2 side Bury FC for an undisclosed fee. He was initially loaned out to Maidenhead United before linking up with Southport on loan in November 2018. This loan was later extended to the end of the season as problems began to mount at Bury.

In August 2019 he signed a 1-year deal with Port Vale and scored on his debut after coming on as a substitute against Shrewsbury Town in an EFL Trophy tie. In January 2020 he had a short loan stint with Stockport County.

He joined Boston United in September 2020 after being released by Port Vale, however he was transferred to Southport a couple of months later. A strong 2021-22 season saw him sign a two-year contract extension in April 2022, but an injury-ravaged 2023-24 campaign saw him released at the end of his contract.

He appeared in some of our pre-season friendlies and is currently building up his fitness and sharpness following his time out of the game in readiness for pushing for a place in the side in the near future.

We're delighted to welcome Jordan back and look forward to seeing him back in action properly in the near future!
