Shay is a powerful and hardworking centre forward who can be a handful for defenders.
He was initially with Solihull Moors as a youth before joining Walsall FC in the summer of 2021. The following season he featured regularly for the under 18’s and he also made his senior debut for the Saddlers as a substitute away at Cambridge United in the EFL Trophy 2nd Round in November 2021 before making his league debut as a late sub against Colchester United the following month. In September 2022 he joined Worcester Raiders on loan, and he would spend most of his second-year scholarship loaned out to the Hellenic League outfit.
After being released by Walsall in the summer of 2023, he signed for Alvechurch but was loaned back out to Worcester Raiders again for the first part of the 2023-24 campaign. He had a loan stint at Walsall Wood in February 2024 and was loaned out again to Coventry Sphinx at the start of the 2024-25 season, where he featured until November 2024. In December 2024 he scored twice against us in our Worcestershire Senior Cup quarter-final tie that Alvechurch eventually won on penalties. He largely remained on the fringes of the starting line-up at Alvechurch though and he joined Rugby Town on loan in March 2025.
Shay's arrival is timely following the departure of Ethan Freemantle, who is heading off to Dubai as he begins a new chapter in his life.
We welcome Shay and wish Ethan all the best for the future!
