Provisional league allocations for the 2023/24 season announced!

Provisional league allocations for the 2023/24 season announced!

Nigel Gregg15 May 2023 - 11:15

The provisional league allocations across the non-league pyramid for 2023/24 have been released this morning

The league allocations are subject to appeals from individual clubs before official ratification at the various league AGM's in June.

The Southern League Premier Division Central loses champions TAMWORTH and promotion play-off winners RUSHALL OLYMPIC to the level two National League North.

Four clubs are relegated to step 4 of the non-league pyramid, HEDNESFORD TOWN (to NPL Div. 1 West), AFC RUSHDEN & DIAMONDS (to NPL Div. 1 Midlands) with KINGS LANGLEY and BEDFORD TOWN placed in the Southern League Division 1 Central).

As a result of the various promotion and relegation outcomes at the different levels it has also been necessary to transfer BASFORD UNITED and ILKESTON TOWN to the NPL Premier Division.

AFC TELFORD UNITED, KETTERING TOWN and LEAMINGTON are all relegated from the National League North and assigned to the Premier Division Central.

Suffolk based AFC SUDBURY are also new to our division after winning the Isthmian Division 1 North promotion play-offs having finished as runners-up in that division. We previously visited them in an FA Vase quarter-final tie in 2005 where we were beaten 4 - 1 after extra-time. AFC Sudbury now have a 3G pitch at their Kings Marsh Stadium home.

NPL Division One Midlands champions STAMFORD and our near neighbours HALESOWEN TOWN, who were runners-up and eventual play-off winners, are also assigned to our division, as expected, following promotion.

Derbyshire outfit LONG EATON UNITED, play-off winners of the NPL Division One East, have joined the league for the first time, following their recent progression up the leagues having won the United Counties League Premier Division North at step 5 in 2021/22.

BERKHAMSTED are also set to compete in the Premier Division Central in 2023/24 after racing away with the Southern League Division One Central title this season.
