SQUAD UPDATE - Darryl drafts in five new signings ahead of Stratford trip!

Nigel Gregg7 Nov - 22:15

Manager Darryl Knights has taken steps to bolster the Glassboys squad with five arrivals ahead of Saturday's game at Stratford Town.

Twenty-three-year-old striker ZIDAN SUTHERLAND has joined on loan from Hednesford Town for the remainder of the season.

The quick and explosive attacker featured briefly for our youth team at the start of the 2019-20 season before spending time on the books of West Bromwich Albion. He had a short stint at Bromsgrove Sporting in the autumn of 2022 before signing for Romulus FC in November 2022. He then moved to Lye Town in February 2023.

In the summer of 2023, he had trials at Dover Athletic and was signed by the Kent outfit ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, however the Whites had a dismal season in the National League South and were eventually relegated, with Zidan opting to return to the Midlands in March 2024 to join Redditch United.

In July 2024 he signed for Hednesford Town, but he spent time on loan at Stafford Rangers between December 2024 and February 2025 before returning to Keys Park for the final run-in of games.

He returned to Stafford Rangers on loan at the start of the current season but has now linked us with us to bolster our attacking options.

Twenty-four-year-old right-back AKSUM WHITE has arrived from Kettering Town. He started out at West Bromwich Albion, appearing regularly for their U18 youth team until his release at the end of the 2020-21 season.

He signed for Tamworth ahead of the following season before linking up with Sporting Khalsa in August 2021 to get more game-time and experience. In October 2021 he joined Worcester Raiders and he subsequently moved to Coleshill Town in February 2022 for the remainder of that season.

He was snapped up by Stratford Town for the start of the 2022-23 season before moving to Bromsgrove Sporting a year later. He transferred to Barwell in February 2024 but was back at Bromsgrove ahead of the 2024-25 season. He was lured away by Kettering Town in September 2025 but has been unable to gain a regular starting place at the Poppies and has now joined us looking to nail down a place in the side.

The signing of 24-year-old central midfielder LUKE ROWE in the face of competition from other clubs is regarded as a coup. He has signed for us following the cancellation of his contract at AFC Telford United as he seeks more regular football.

Luke was initially on the books of Wolves as a youngster before he joined Coventry City where he appeared regularly for their U18 youth squad. Released in the summer of 2019, he initially linked up briefly with Halesowen Town before short stints followed at Coleshill Town and Stratford Town. In November 2019 he signed for Worcester City for the remainder of the curtailed season. He began the 2021-22 season at Racing Club Warwick before moving to Redditch United in September 2021. He then signed for Hednesford Town in June 2022, but he joined AFC Telford United in December 2022. With the Bucks relegated from the National League North at the end of that season, he agreed to link up with Bromsgrove Sporting in June 2023. He went on to skipper the Rouslers before returning to AFC Telford for a second spell in February 2025. He captained the Bucks as they ended last season strongly to win promotion back to step 2 via play-offs, however this season he has mainly featured from the bench for the Shropshire club.

Winger-turned-striker ISAAC OLALEYE was released by MK Dons at the end of last season following the end of his three-year youth scholarship. During the 2024-25 campaign the 20-year-old spent three separate spells on loan at Arlesey Town, along with a month-long spell on loan at Wellingborough Town and two months on loan between January 2025 and March 2025 with AFC Rushden & Diamonds.

Twenty-two-year-old CHISOM AFOKA is a left winger or attacking midfielder who began with the West Bromwich Albion academy before joining Aston Villa in July 2020. He started out in the under 18's before being promoted into the U21 side for the 2022-23 season.

In September 2023 he was loaned out to Bradford City and made his league debut a week later as a substitute against Grimsby Town. After making only five appearances for the Bantams over the first half of the season he was recalled by Villa in January 2024 and he was released by the Premier League club in the summer of 2024. He subsequently had an unsuccessful trial at Hull City and has most recently been training with AFC Telford. He now has the opportunity to impress and re-launch his playing career with us.

Welcome to all our new players! We hope that they can all make their mark and help get us back up the league table!
