PREVIEW

Stourbridge will be hoping to build on an encouraging start to the new season as they welcome HEDNESFORD TOWN to the War Memorial Athletic Ground (3 pm).

Boss Ian Long has a welcome selection headache on the back of victories away at Hitchin Town last Saturday and at home to Stratford Town on Monday. He made four changes for the Stratford encounter as he looked to freshen his side up for their second game in three days and that decision paid off with all four new starters making a positive contribution to the Glassboys victory.

Stourbridge have also since added midfield general Mitch Botfield to their squad to further strengthen the options available in that particular area of the field, although Dave Bellis may need assessing for Saturday after picking up a knock on Monday night.

Hednesford snapped up a trio of players from Halesowen Town over the summer with goalkeeper Daniel Platt, defender Sam Griffiths and ex-Stourbridge and Stafford Rangers centre-half Kieran Morris all moving to Keys Park. They also welcomed back popular striker Danny Glover, who returned after a year with Nantwich Town.

A crowd of 482 saw Hednesford defeat Lowestoft Town 2 - 1 at home on the opening day of the season with Glover netting the winner from the penalty spot before they fell to a narrow 2 - 1 defeat at Coalville Town on Tuesday night. Ex-Glassboy Jack Duggan headed home from a corner as the Leicestershire hosts built a two-goal lead with just over an hour played, however Glover pulled a goal back for the Pitmen with ten minutes remaining and the visitors then finished strongly after Coalville were reduced to ten men but couldn't find an equaliser in the time remaining.

Hednesford last visited the War Memorial Athletic Ground just under two years ago and the Glassboys triumphed 2 - 0 on that occasion with goals from Jordan Archer and Ryan Rowe.
