The Glassboys U15 squads have enjoyed a stunning weekend with a League Cup Final win on Sunday, following on from Saturday's National semi-final win.

Lewis Solly’s SDYFL side took on Halesowen Town in a ‘No. 9 Derby’ at Dudley Sports at Sunday lunchtime, and emerged 4-0 winners to complete a League & Cup ‘Double’.

Two goals in each half ensured that Stour carried off the Cup, with Joe Bruce scoring twice and Jensen Reynolds and Lucas Martin also on the scoresheet, rounding off a superb season for the team.

Meanwhile the JPL side (pictured above) made the long trip up to the North East for Saturday’s National JPL Play-Off semi-finals against South Shields. Zanne Clarke put Stourbridge ahead early in the game, but South Shields levelled before half time, and despite both teams’ efforts there was no further score in the 90 minutes.

But it was the Junior Glassboys who came out on top in the shoot-out, with Liam Banks, Oliver Shaw and Ryan Fletcher all finding the net, whilst Edward Solly pulled off two outstanding penalty saves before Lucas Martin struck the decisive blow.

The Final will now see the boys up against Bracknell Town in the Final to be played at Macclesfield FC on Saturday 21st May (4pm kick-off, subject to confirmation).

Congratulations to the players and coaching staff of both teams on a truly remarkable weekend, and we wish you all the best for the Final!

Saturday also saw our Under 16 JPL team in action as they took on Bromley in the National JPL Cup Final. Sadly the boys went down 1-4 despite Adrian Tighe drawing them level in a very even first half. However, a goal just before the break saw Bromley go in with their noses in front, and they added two more goals in the second half.

Nevertheless, the Under 16s have also had an excellent season and we congratulate everyone involved on their success in reaching the Final.
