Congratulations to the Stourbridge FC U16's boys who beat Pontefract Collieries 3 - 0 to reach the Junior Premier League National Cup Final.

Goals from Brendan Field, Alfie Steward and Aidan Tighe saw the Glassboys U16 boys side overcome their West Yorkshire opponents on the Dudley College 3G pitch to book their place in the Final to maintain their excellent showing in this particular competition in recent years.

They won the Cup when competing at under 14 level and then the following season at under 15 they lost on penalties in the semi-final.

The visitors made the brighter start having the better of the early possession and chances, however Stourbridge settled down and improved before taking the lead with a strike from distance by Field. A second goal then followed from a lofted ball into the box where Alfie Steward - who has also been in fine form for our AFC youth team this season - managed to flick the ball home.

Pontefract refused to lie down, however the home defence held firm before Steward turned provider for a third goal that effectively sealed victory. He produced a strong run down the right before squaring a pass into Aidan Tighe, who slotted past the keeper to make it 3 - 0.

Well done to Stuart Jessup and all concerned in our U16's squad. They now await more details on the Final, date and venue.
