New signings Charlie Price, Kristian Green, Lee Chilton, Dan Scarr, Stuart Pierpoint and Tom Tonks made their first appearances in red and white stripes, whilst four trialists also played a part. Jamie Insall and Nathan Hayward both started the match, with James Baldwin and James Hill coming off the bench during the second half.
After a goalless first half against last season's West Midlands League runners-up, Green gave Stourbridge the lead on 47 minutes with a low angled driven shot. But the advantage lasted just four minutes before the home side drew level through Tyler Sands-Fowkes.
The goal that settled the game came six minutes from time as Insall, who was top scorer in the West Midlands League Division 1 last season with Bromyard Town, glanced a header into the net from close range.
STOURBRIDGE LINE-UP: Price, Green (Dodd 80), Chilton, Scarr, Pierpoint, Connolly, Hayward (Hill 73), Canavan (Baldwin 73), Insall, Smikle, Tonks (Tye 73).
UNUSED SUBSTITUTE: Solly.
Stourbridge continue their build-up to the new season this Tuesday night with a visit to another West Midlands League outfit, Bewdley Town. Kick-off at Ribbesford Meadows is at 7.30 pm.
Next Saturday it's Cup action for the Glassboys, when we make the trip to our old Southern League rivals Redditch United for the Worcestershire Senior Cup Quarter-Final. Kick-off is at 3.00 pm. The game will be played to a finish on the day, with penalties at the end of 90 minutes if the scores are level. There will be no extra-time.
