Pre-season continues to gather pace this Saturday with a challenging fixture against National League North Brackley Town. Kick-off is at 3.00 pm.
The Saints, as the only pre-season opposition from a higher level in the pyramid than the Glassboys, will provide a stern examination of Gary Hackett's team's credentials for the coming season.
Brackley have just completed their third season in non-league's second tier, finishing a disappointing 18th, and only narrowly avoiding relegation thanks to a 1-0 win at home to Hednesford Town on the final day of the season courtesy of a 75th minutes strike from former Glassboys hero Ryan Rowe.
Brackley were promoted as Champions of the Southern League in 2011/12, and finished third at the first time of asking before going down to Halifax Town in the play-off final. A solid second season saw them finish 7th, but last season did not go so well and they will no doubt be hoping for an improved showing this time around.
The last meetings between the two teams came during that Brackley Championship campaign of 2011/12, when Stourbridge triumphed on both occasions. Two very late goals at St James Park from Sean Geddes (via the penalty spot) and that man Rowe sealed a 2-0 win in January, whilst a solitary Tom Kemp own goal made the difference in the return at Amblecote.
