The Glassboys were held to a goal-less draw at the Castle Vale Stadium with the MFL Premier hosts giving Stour a tough contest.

Stourbridge team -

Stourbridge certainly didn't have things all their own way at Romulus. The home side put in a committed showing and went toe-to-toe with the Glassboys. Had it been a league game, a few cards might have been shown as neither side held back.

In the 9th minute a right-wing corner from Tom Turton was headed out by Roms Tom Weale before Jake Evans curled a 25-yard effort over. Three minutes later Turton delivered in a free-kick and Kristian Green got in a header that was saved by home custodian Billy Spink - the son of former Villa keeper Nigel Spink.

Stourbridge were forced into a change mid-way through the opening half after Andre Landell picked up an injury and he was replaced by Michael Taylor.

With 29 minutes gone the Glassboys best move of the half saw Evans exchange passes with Tom Tonks down the right and the teenage midfielder sent a teasing low centre across the six-yard box but nobody had attacked the far post.

A minute later Archer received the ball in the left channel area and he worked room for a low 20-yard shot that Spink was equal to.

Roms responded with a low 30-yard drive from James Wood safely held by Price.

Jake Evans hobbled off with a foot injury nine minutes before the interval and while the visitors were temporarily down to ten men Romulus threatened down the left and a ball across the box from Wood found Josh Willis but he couldn't direct his shot on target.

Will Grocott came on for Evans to bring the Glassboys back up to full strength.

In the 41st minute Taylor was bundled over just outside the box and from the resulting free-kick Cook rattled the crossbar before a home defender headed the ball out for a corner.

Two minutes later Stourbridge had their best chance of the half. A long ball forward by McGrath drew Spink outside of his box, but he miscued his attempted clearance in the direction of Taylor, however the keeper recovered his ground sufficiently to get back inside his area and dive to block Taylor's low shot.

On the stroke of half-time Turton found Tonks and his low pulled back cross from the right picked out Cook, however he clipped his shot over

HT 0 - 0

Jordaan Brown came on for the second-half after recovering from a hamstring tweak in training. Greg Mills was also introduced in place of Archer.

In the 53rd minute a low shot from Ryan Winwood was saved by the Roms stopper, but as the home side grew in confidence and belief, the chances dried up for a while.

There was a treble change on 66 minutes with Aaron Lloyd, Zac Foster and Dave Bellis all coming off the bench to get a run-out. Brown dropped into the middle of the back four as a result of the subs.

In the 71st minute Taylor might have done better when the ball broke favourably into his path with just the keeper to beat, but his low shot was blocked.

Charlie Price was then called into action at the other end to make a save with an outstretched leg at his near post to deny a Roms sub.

On 83 minutes Mills cut in from the left, but he didn't quite catch his effort cleanly and his low shot was saved.

Four minutes from time Price made another save to keep his goal in-tact

In the final minute a long throw-in from Tonks on the right troubled the Roms defence. The ball was only partially cleared and Mills cracked in a shot that was well held by the keeper to ensure the match ended goal-less.
