A late goal for the visitors denied the Glassboys all three points after an end-to-end second half at the War Memorial Ground.

Following on from Saturday's impressive win at Skelmersdale United, manager Gary Hackett named an unchanged Stourbridge team, whilst Rushall had a familiar element to their line-up, as they included three players - Dean Coleman, Jordan Fitzpatrick and Luke Benbow - who only departed Amblecote in the Summer.

A first half that struggled at times to get going saw few serious chances for either side until late on. Benbow scooped a half chance over the bar from the edge of the penalty area for the Pics after 10 minutes, and then, after a rash challenge by Dan Scarr on Aris Christophorou on the edge of the area, Kris Taylor only just failed to hit the target with his 19th minute free kick on target.

Stourbridge were making little headway for the most part against a well-organised visiting defence, but as the half neared its conclusion, the Glassboys did increasingly begin to find openings.

First Matt Dodd saw his 40th minute shot cleared off the line by Jack Duggan after Coleman had failed to claim his initial effort under pressure from Karl Hawley, and then a minute later the ex-Glassboys stopper produced an instinctive saw to divert Hawley's deflected shot onto the upright.

A minute from the break, Dodd got round Coleman but screwed his shot inches wide of the far post, again via a touch off a covering defender, before the half ended with a reminder of Rushall's threat as Benbow turned and played a dangerous ball across the face of Lewis Solly's goal, with no visiting player close enough at hand to capitalise.

The second half got under way with the Pics on the front foot, and an early change did not help Stourbridge's cohesion as Chris Knight was forced off, resulting in a defensive reshuffle, with Leon Broadhurst slotting in at left-back.

Solly was forced to save magnificently from Benbow on 50 minutes when the striker was afforded far too much space just yards from goal after Taylor and Duggan had combined well, whilst at the other end Dodd's cross forced a defender to head over his own goal.

A goal finally materialised on 55 minutes, as Broadhurst took aim with a 25 yard free kick. The ball was driven low under Rushall's wall and as it skidded through on the greasy surface, Coleman was unable to hold on, leaving Chris Lait, another player facing up to a former club, with the simplest of tasks to finish from close range.

Two minutes later, Benbow drove a free kick of his own narrowly wide of Solly's right-hand post as the visitors sought to hit back, but the Glassboys looked to be holding firm until the same player conjured up a fine equalising goal on 71 minutes. A swift counter-attack saw the burly striker able to switch the ball onto his right foot 20 yards out before curling a shot out of Solly's reach and in off the underside of the crossbar to leave the game in the balance.

The immediate introduction of Kayelden Brown, however, pepped Stourbridge up, and it was he who was to restore the home side's advantage ten minutes from time.

Having spurned a chance one-on-one by shooting straight at Coleman after robbing Duggan and advancing on goal just 30 seconds earlier, Brown made amends after the quietly impressive Tom Tonks had tenaciously won the ball back in midfield. Tonks swiftly fed Brown on the left, and this time he made no mistake past Coleman with a low finish.

A cross from Dodd was just too high for Brown to reach with five minutes to go, as the Glassboys strived to seal the game, but unsurprisingly it was Rushall who pressed as the clock ticked down.

Solly was forced to tip over a Fitzpatrick free kick from out wide with just two minutes to go, but there was to be no reprieve from the resulting corner as Duggan got the run on his defender and rose highest to plant a firm header beyond Solly.

And the visitors came closest to pinching the win in stoppage time as Benbow saw another shot blocked by Solly at close range, with Stourbridge hanging on more than perhaps should have been the case.
