Gary Hackett was forced into one change from Saturday's win at Buxton, with the suspended Tom Tonks making way for Brian Smikle, whilst Lee Chilton and Kayelden Brown both occupied places on the bench after being unavailable at the weekend.
The game could hardly have got off to a better start for the Glassboys, as Chris Lait put them ahead on six minutes with his third goal in consecutive games. Matt Dodd broke down the right and crossed for Karl Hawley, who held off two defenders before laying off for Lait to finish.
Within three minutes, however, Barwell were level as Iyseden Chrsitie nodded down for Brady Hickey, who appeared to scuff his shot slightly and, in doing so, deceive Lewis Solly in the Glassboys goal to make it 1-1.
From that point on, Barwell were in the ascendency for much of the half. Stuart Pierpoint had to be alert to clear in front of the lurking Christie, before Ant Carney hit an angled shot that came off the post. The same player then fired wide of the near post with a speculative effort and also shot into the side-netting under pressure from Kristian Green.
In between times, Dodd shot wide for Stourbridge when a square ball to Hawley might have been the better option, but that apart chances were few and far between for the Glassboys.
The pressure from the visitors was to pay off on 33 minutes, as Christie's flick released Carney who outpaced Dan Scarr and tucked a fine finish beyond Solly. There was a further chance for Barwell with a free header going over the bar, and Stourbridge were relieved to reach the interval just one goal in arrears.
There was an early second half chance for the Glassboys as Lait saw his shot blocked at close range, but it was Barwell who added a third on the hour mark through Hickey, as his free header from a corner found the back of the net.
Brown was introduced for Louis Harris in order to pep up the Glassboys attack and it was the substitute who cut the deficit just short of the 70 minute mark, nodding in from a corner.
Re-energised, Stourbridge began to exert a little more pressure but it wasn't until the closing stages that clear chances came along. First Dodd set up substitute Lee Chilton, whose snap-shot was straight into the arms of Liam Castle in the visitors' goal, and then Leon Broadhurst saw his header blocked on the line, with Brown's follow-up deflected wide.
The final action saw Chilton shoot over, but in truth a draw would have flattered the Glassboys after Barwell's first half display in particular.
