The Glassboys first ever visit to Rowley Park was given added spice before kick-off as news broke that Stourbridge had just agreed a deal to sign the St Neots Town top goalscorer Ben Mackey for a nominal fee. With Mackey missing for the hosts and Stourbri

The opening twenty minutes though were quite lively and played at a good tempo. Gary Hackett's men had the first chance after 5 minutes when a long kick downfield from keeper Dean Coleman led to some hesitation in the middle of the home defence. Visiting striker James Spray, with his back to goal, controlled the ball and then turned and hit a shot goalwards that beat the out of position home custodian Jack Giddens, but defender Gavin Hoyte did extremely well to stretch and clear the ball off the line. Six minutes later Lewis Hilliard dribbled the ball towards the Stourbridge box before hitting a low shot from just outside the box that ran past Coleman's left-hand post. Slowly though defences began to get on top and chances became fewer. In the 24th minute a half clearance from Tom Wood allowed Drew Canavan to hit a drive from 25 yards yards that Giddens got safely behind, but the game remained goal-less at the break.

Both sides had a chance to break the deadlock early in the second period. Two minutes after the re-start Wood slipped the ball through to provide a good opportunity for Dubi Ogbonna, but his placed shot from the edge of the box drew an excellent save down to his left from Coleman who grabbed the ball at full stretch. Play soon switched to the other end of the pitch where Spray wriggled free but saw his close range shot blocked by Giddens. The home side began to enjoy more possession, but made little in-roads against the sturdy Stourbridge defence, although the last ten minutes did bring further chances. In the 82nd minute a long diagonal pass from Ryan Auger picked out Hilliard on the left-hand edge of the box and he took the ball down well, however his shot was gathered by Coleman. Glassboys sub Lee Osborne was pushed into the attack and he caused the hosts some problems with his running off the ball. In the 84th minute Paul McCone fed Jordan Fitzpatrick and he rolled the ball into the path of Osborne whose shot on the run was deflected into the hands of Giddens. Two minutes later Broadhurst played a fine pass into the run of Osborne on the left-hand side of the box, but as he looked to go past Giddens, he miscontrolled the ball and it squirmed out of play. Just before the end Sean Evans was half-stopped in his tracks in the left channel area, however Broadhurst fastened on to the ball and struck a low angled shot from 20 yards that flew past the far post, but a point apiece was probably a fair outcome in a game where neither side was able to get on top.
