In an exhilarating contest at the Bedfordshire hosts, Ben Mackey and Ben Billingham had efforts save by Arlesey keeper Nathan Abbey before Dean Coleman produced an outstanding save in the 32nd minute to keep out a header from James Hatch. Three minutes later Stourbridge grabbed the lead through a low 30-yard shot from Sean Geddes into the far bottom corner of the net past a rooted Abbey.
Arlesey pressed after the break and after Drew Roberts had headed a chance straight at Coleman, they got back on level terms in the 51st minute when Chris Marsh did superbly well to dig out a right-wing cross from close to the corner flag and Chris Dillon sent a close range header past Coleman. The Stourbridge response was almost immediate as just two minutes later an early low 25-yard shot from Jordan Fitzpatrick beat the diving Abbey away to his right. Geddes then shot inches over the crossbar from the edge of the box before the Glassboys were awarded a penalty in the 62nd minute after Luke Benbow was brought down by Josh Cook, however Abbey went the right way to keep out Geddes' spot-kick and the hosts hit back to restore parity on 68 minutes. A searching ball from Ryan Frater sent Drew Roberts racing through the right-hand channel and as the ball sat up invitingly, he cracked a fierce rising shot that caught out Coleman at his near post. Five minutes later though Stourbridge took the lead for the third time on the night following good work from Benbow on the left before his low centre across the face of the box was steered home by Fitzpatrick. In a frantic finale with Arlesey desperately seeking an equaliser, the Stourbridge goal led a charmed life with Oliver clearing off the line
from Jeanmal Prosper and Ben Farrell thumping a shot against Coleman's left-hand upright with Dillon somehow diverting the rebound off-target. Just before the end though Geddes chased a ball down towards the right-hand byline and he lifted the ball high into the middle and after a defender misjudged the flight of the ball, Ben Mackey seized the chance to belt a shot into the top corner of the net to give the visitors a two-goal cushion, although there was still time for Kim Forsythe to clip the ball against the top of the crossbar. Stourbridge will be thrilled with an excellent week's work that has seen them win on the road at Bedworth, Gosport and now Arlesey.
