In very wet conditions, the Berkshire hosts played up the slope at Bulpit Lane in the first period and they were handed a gift goal early on when Mark Hughes stood up a cross from the right that looked to provide Coleman with a routine catch, however the ball slipped from his grasp and Mark Draycott was alert enough to quickly capitalise and turn the ball over the line. The home side continued to press the Stourbridge goal for the next quarter of an half or so. In the 10th minute Hungerford almost doubled their advantage as Matt Day played a pass forward towards the left hand edge of the box where Josh Parsons collected the ball before shooting against Coleman’s left-hand upright. Stourbridge gradually got more into the game following a change in formation and they went close in the 36th minute after Luke Benbow sprayed a superb crossfield ball out wide to Drew Canavan on the right and he supplied a low centre with Ryan Rowe’s near post back-heel being saved by Paul Strudley. In first-half stoppage time though the visitors were reduced to ten men after Jamie Oliver was dismissed following an incident with the home bench.
Hungerford threatened twice early in the second-half with a 30-yard free-kick from Ryan Crockford being tipped over the bar by Coleman and then the Stourbridge stopper made a vital save when Jordan Fitzpatrick had a shot blocked at one end and the hosts broke away after clearing the ball up-field. Parsons attacked down the right before sending a low cross over to Draycott, in space, however Coleman narrowed the angle down and blocked his shot. Stourbridge responded ten minutes later with Rowe exchanging passes with Benbow and he then hit a shot that took a deflection and Strudley did well to parry the ball wide. Hungerford were also left a man short on 64 minutes when Parsons saw red after a challenge on Aaron Drake. Stourbridge immediately pushed for an equaliser and from a Geddes cross Rowe got in a near post header that was saved by Strudley and then in the latter stages Benbow and Geddes both had efforts saved by the home keeper before time ran out.
