The Stourbridge FC youth & academy team won the 2023/24 Joel Richards Memorial Cup Final with a 6 - 3 victory over Tamworth Academy.

An exciting first half at Walsall saw Stourbridge lead twice before being pegged back on both occasions only to re-take the lead for a third time just before the half time break and Darryl Knights' side never looked back after that.

Alfie Steward volleyed home in the 15th minute only for Tamworth to equalise through Lewis Green five minutes later. Aidan Tighe shot home through a crowded penalty area to make it 2 - 1 to the Glassboys , but Tamworth again fought back to restore parity after 32 minutes with Zack Knight finding the target. Tighe then grabbed his second of the night in the 44th minute after good work from Fin Holmes to send Stourbridge into the interval holding a narrow 3 - 2 advantage.

A flurry of goals in the last quarter of the match saw Stourbridge pull away from Tamworth with Josh Banks heading home a fourth goal in the 78th minute and then Tighe completed a memorable hat-trick five minutes later to put the outcome beyond doubt although there was still time for Lucas Martin to scramble in a sixth goal in the 89th minute and Tamworth round off the scoring with a further goal from Junior Mpanu deep into stoppage time to conclude the goal feast with Stourbridge coming out on top 6 - 3 in this Birmingham County FA Youth competition.

Well done to all the players and managerial and coaching staff involved on their success.
