We are delighted to confirm the signing of striker Karl Hawley following an impressive run-out at Chasetown last Saturday.

However, at the same time we say goodbye to defender Luke Connolly who has completed a move to our league rivals and near neighbours Halesowen Town.

Karl, who is 33, began his career with Walsall and numbers Hednesford Town, Carlisle United, Preston North End, Notts County, Scunthorpe United, Torquay United and Alfreton Town as his previous clubs, as well as spending time on loan at Raith Rovers, Hereford United, Northampton Town, Colchester United and Crawley Town.

Karl's most successful spell was with Carlisle United between 2004 and 2007 where he scored 47 goals from 118 appearances, helping the Cumbrian side to win promotion from the Conference back to the Football League in 2005, and then a second successive promotion to League One the following season.

In that 2005/06 campaign Karl was voted League Two Player of the Season and was the Division's leading scorer.

Karl spent last term in the Vanarama Conference with Alfreton, where he scored 10 goals from 33 appearances, before being released at the end of last season.

We welcome Karl to Stourbridge and we hope his stay with us proves to be a successful one.

Luke Connolly joined the Glassboys in January this year from Leamington and showed great consistency in his performances in a struggling side. His final competitive appearance for Stourbridge came in the Worcestershire Senior Cup tie at Redditch United three weeks ago.

We wish Luke well for the future as well as thanking him for his efforts for the Glassboys.
