Stourbridge secured their place in the last eight of the Birmingham Senior Cup as we overcame the Wolverhampton Wanderers development squad ..

from Will Richards and Roly Agbor both coming from set-pieces. The technically good Wolves youngsters moved the ball around well, but they fell short in the final third as they failed to take the chances that came their way, while their final pass sometimes let them down. In a lively start the hosts opened the scoring after just five minutes. Sean Geddes delivered in a free-kick from the left towards the far post where Nathan Bennett won his header to send the ball back across the box for Kayelden Brown to head goal-wards and Will Richards, standing in-front of the keeper, turned and forced the ball over the line. The visitors might have drawn level four minutes later as Jim Kellerman slipped the ball through to Robbie Parry on the left-hand side of the box, but Dean Coleman spread himself well to make a blocking save. Stourbridge responded with George Washbourne hitting a 20-yard shot straight at Jonathan Flatt, while Geddes also struck a free-kick awarded just outside the penalty area too close to the keeper who made a comfortable save. On 15 minutes Agbor threaded a pass inside from the right to Geddes and he, in turn, played a square pass to Ben Billingham who hit a 25-yard shot that forced Flatt into a full-length diving save down to his right to push the ball away. Midway through the half Wolves might have levelled matters when Eusebio Bancessi won back possession on the right-hand side of the box, but he struck his low shot tamely wide of Coleman’s left-hand upright. While at the other end Nathan Bennett saw his header drift wide from another Geddes free-kick. Wolves applied more pressure towards half-time and four minutes before the break Bradley Reid had a good chance as he was put through down the middle, but under some pressure from Bennett, he prodded his low effort wide of Coleman’s right-hand post.

Six minutes after the re-start Geddes dribbled the ball into the right-hand side of the area before squaring the ball across to Chris Knight, but he was unable to control the pass and the ball bounced into the arms of Flatt. Two minutes later Wolves threatened with Bancessi supplying a deep cross from the right that Jordan Cranston headed back across goal towards Bradley Reid who saw his on-target shot deflected for a corner. Long serving Glassboy Sam Rock received a rousing reception on the hour mark when he was introduced as a substitute – his first appearance for 13 months for the club after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in November 2012. The visitors again went close in the 64th minute with the lively Parry showing some great skill to beat Richards and make himself some room, however he turned his low angled shot inches wide of Coleman’s left-hand post and four minutes later Sam Whittall collected a low cross from the right in a good position, but possibly got the ball caught between his feet, as he delayed getting his shot away and the danger was smothered. Eight minutes from time the Glassboys struck for a second time to book their passage through to the next round as a Geddes free-kick from the left was glanced on by Richards and Agbor turned the ball over the line at the far post with appeals for offside from the visitors rejected.
