Stourbridge had the better of the opening stages and both Kayelden Brown and Brian Smikle perhaps could have done better with close range efforts that didn't test Chris Gemmill in the Rushall goal, whilst Ben Billingham, arriving late, couldn't keep down his header from Smikle's cross.
Rushall came more into the game as the half went on, and came closest to breaking the deadlock shortly before the break when Dean Coleman got his fingertips to a Mark Danks drive that cannoned onto the crossbar.
The second half saw Stourbridge dominate for long periods but unable to force many clear openings. The visitors produced a gutsy defensive display, particularly after the experienced Carl Palmer had a rush of blood after being fouled by Sean Geddes just short of the hour mark. Palmer grabbed the Glassboys' captain by the neck and threw him to the ground to earn a red card, although Geddes was perhaps fortunate to escape a yellow at the same time for the initial challenge.
Stourbridge's best openings came down the right flank with several crosses from Kyle Haynes not meeting their targets, whilst a Leon Broadhurst header from a left-wing corner drifted wide, and late on a deflected shot from substitute Luke Benbow hit the crossbar.
Ultimately, though, Stourbridge failed to find the killer ball to open up the defence.
