In their final fixture before the big F A Cup tie at Stevenage, a somewhat depleted Glassboys side fell to a disappointing 2 – 0 loss at Burnham.

Stourbridge struggled to adapt to the bumpy pitch and were hit by two goals from Ryan Blake as the home team produced a battling display in spite of their recent financial cut-backs. In the 3rd minute a cross from Lee Togwell picked out Aaron Couch and his rising shot from the left-hand side of the box clipped the crossbar. The Glassboys replied three minutes later with Kyle Haynes finding Aaron Drake with a throw-in on the right. He threaded the ball through to Luke Benbow who flashed a low cross-shot past the far post. Soon afterwards Couch burst through the left channel area for Burnham, however his low angled shot was comfortably saved Dean Coleman, however on 9 minutes Stourbridge found themselves trailing. A miscued shot from outside the box from Togwell ran invitingly through to Blake on the right-hand side of the area and he turned and beat Coleman with a low angled shot into the far corner of the net. Ten minutes later and with Jamie Oliver down requiring treatment, a loose clearance allowed Ryan Upward to hit a 25-yard shot wide of Coleman’s left-hand post and then in the 26th minute Coleman got safely behind a Lewis Driver shot from the edge of the area. Two minutes later Ryan Rowe went close with a glancing near post header from a Ben Billingham right-wing corner and then on 36 minutes Stourbridge had penalty shouts turned down after Billingham appeared to be caught and felled inside the box. Four minutes before the break a Coleman kick was headed on by Rowe into the path of Haynes who drove through the right channel area, but saw his chip fly over the bar.

The visitors introduced Kayelden Brown and then Roly Agbor in the first seventeen minutes of the second period as they adopted a more direct approach. Rowe sliced a chance on the left-hand side of the area after being found by Billingham and then play switched quickly to the other end where Ashley Smith was played through. Coleman came a long way towards the edge of his area and Smith attempted to lob the ball over the top of him, but Coleman spread himself well to make a save with the upper part of his chest. The game grew increasingly stretched as Stourbridge tried to find an equaliser, but the Buckinghamshire hosts defended strongly. In the 72nd minute Michael Charles-Smith fed Driver and his shot was deflected across towards Nicke Kabamba, however he was thwarted by a point-blank save by Coleman. Five minutes later at the other end Billingham pumped a free-kick into the Burnham box where Dan Preston hooked a chance off-target, but seven minutes into stoppage time Burnham wrapped up victory as Blake broke down the right and squared the ball inside to an unmarked Dan Malloy and his stinging shot was parried by Coleman before Blake reacted quickest to turn the ball over the line to condemn Gary Hackett's men to defeat.
