FA Cup Draw Update - Sunday Service at Amblecote

10 months ago By Richard Clark

Stourbridge will play St Ives Town in the Emirates FA Cup Second Qualifying Round on SUNDAY 17th SEPTEMBER.

The match will kick off at 3.00 pm.

Please note that it is an ALL PAY match - season tickets, flexi tickets and other passes are NOT VALID for this cup-tie.

The 'move' to Sunday is due to Stourbridge Cricket Club's first eleven being at home on the Saturday in the final round of matches in the Birmingham League.

Any replay will take place at St Ives Town FC on Tuesday 19th September (7.45 pm kick-off).

St Ives are based around 10 miles to the North of Cambridge (not to be confused with the holiday resort in Cornwall!) and play in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier - equivalent in the pyramid to the Glassboys' level.

They are currently 18th in the table, with four points from five matches, and reached this stage of the competition with a narrow 1-0 win over our counterparts in the Evo-Stik NPL Premier Division, Coalville Town on Saturday.

St Ives gained promotion from the Southern League Central Division via the play-offs just over twelve months ago and this is only their second season at Step 3, having finished fifteenth last season. They had been promoted as runners-up from the United Counties League two years before that.

Perhaps not surprisingly, given their recent rise up the pyramid from Step 5, the Second Qualifying Round equals the Saints' previous best campaign in the FA Cup. They reached this stage for the first time in 2013/14, going down 3-4 at home to Concord Rangers, and then did so again last season where they were defeated 0-3 at home by Harlow Town.

The clubs have never previously met in any competition, and we look forward to extending a warm welcome to all from St Ives.
