We are pleased to announce the signing of striker Justin Richards from Sutton Coldfield Town FC.

Justin, 34, was a major part of the Royals' side that won promotion from Division 1 South of the Evo-Stik NPL last season, scoring 29 goals in all competitions, and has begun the new season in good form with three goals from four appearances.

Justin began his career at West Bromwich Albion, before moving on to Bristol Rovers and then Stevenage Borough.

He came to prominence during a two-year spell with Woking between 2004 and 2006, where he scored 35 goals in 79 appearances for the Conference club.

A brief spell with Peterborough United followed, before he returned to his Midlands roots with Kidderminster Harriers, where 65 appearances brought him 22 goals.

A season each at Cheltenham Town (15 goals in 44 games) and Port Vale (9 in 42) led to a two-year stint with Burton Albion where he notched 12 times in 48 games.

Since then, Justin has played for Oxford United and Tamworth before linking up with Sutton in the summer of 2014, leading to a highly successful campaign last time out for both Justin and the club.

Commenting on the signing, manager Gary Hackett told the website, "We tried to sign Justin last season but he wanted to stay loyal to Sutton, and I respect that. He will bring a new dimension up front, a physical presence, and that will help Karl Hawley. I'm really pleased we've been able to get him in."

Welcome to Stourbridge, Justin!

At the same time, Lee Chilton has left the club, and we expect him to return to Leamington, from whom he joined the Glassboys during the closed season. Lee made seven starts and one substitute appearance during his brief stint at Amblecote.

Gary told us, "Things really didn't work out. Lee has rarely trained since he joined us, and he contacted me on Saturday morning to say he couldn't make the trip to Buxton for personal reasons. At the same time, we received a seven-day approach from Leamington and that brought matters to a head somewhat.

"Lee's a good player but I need commitment and I didn't feel Lee was giving us that 100%, so it's for the best.

"We've waived the seven days, but as part of that we have agreed with Leamington that if we are drawn against them in the FA Cup, Lee will not play."

In other player news, Gary also confirmed that Nathan Hayward will shortly be back in training after an absence for personal reasons.

"Nathan hasn't been available for a few weeks for reasons that are between me and him. He's been completely honest with me and I understand the situation. It's a pity because he did really well in pre-season, he's got a good attitude, and he could consider himself very unlucky not to be in the starting eleven for the first couple of games."

Meanwhile, Ben Billingham could be in line for a return to first team action this weekend.

"Ben has done well at Cradley," Gary commented, "and there's every chance he'll be on the bench on Saturday. We'll see how he goes in training on Thursday night.

"With Ben coming back, and Louis Harris gradually getting more match fitness we're on the right track. We missed Tom Tonks on Monday night, and Louis playing twice in 48 hours was tough for him. It's easy to forget he's been out just as long as Ben has, even though his injury wasn't so outwardly dramatic.

"We should have Chris Knight available again shortly after his injury and suspension [Knight is ruled out of this Saturday's game after his red card at Skelmersdale], which will be another huge boost."
