We are delighted to announce that central defender Paul McCone has re-signed for Stourbridge from AFC Telford United.

"Macca" returns to the War Memorial Ground for a fourth spell with the Glassboys, having originally joined us in the summer of 2010, following his release from Wolverhampton Wanderers. He enjoyed three outstanding seasons with us as he chalked up over 150 appearances, most notably scoring the opening goal in our FA Cup First Round replay win over Plymouth Argyle in November 2011 (pictured above).

Paul left the Club in the summer of 2013 to sign for newly-promoted Leamington in Conference North, but returned very briefly in October of the same year to make a couple more appearances in our colours before joining another Conference North outfit, Hednesford Town, helping them to reach the 2013-14 play-offs.

Paul began 2014/15 at Hednesford but re-joined Stourbridge in October 2014 for a third stint, only to switch back to Hednesford two months later.

Paul then followed the Pitmen's managerial team of Rob Smith and Larry Chambers to Telford early in the 2015/16 season but an impressive start with the Bucks was halted by a serious knee injury which ruled him out of the rest of that season.

A long battle back to fitness ensued, but he successfully regained his place in the Telford set-up last term and was a vital part of the squad that retained its place in National League North after struggling in the early part of the season.

In all, Paul has made 169 appearances (including four as substitute) for Stourbridge during his past spells, scoring 14 goals.

We welcome Paul back "home" to Stourbridge. We hope his stay will be a happy and successful one!
